BOOMING!
Things are not tough for everyone!
The Australian Film Industry is a great example of where Australia is WORKING! Every year, Australian producers’ release on average, 24 films a year. Â This year, we are looking at 35 local films!
A recent Article in the Sydney Morning Herald lists the upcoming films, which include;
- The Combination - a controversial Lebanese-Australian drama
- Beautiful - drama
- Love Your Beast - Eric Bana’s doco on following your passion (in this instance his car!)
- Two Fists, One Heart - A story about growing up as a man in Australia
- Mao’s Last Dancer - the film based on the book and true story..
With a projected 35 Australian films due for production this year (up from the annual average of 24) one can only assume that the film industry is thriving in tough times. Â Why?
- The US economy is hurting more than ours - and so money is being put into the Australian Film Industry?
- Film producers and actors are creative and optimistic?
- Producers recognise right now that people need inspiring, and film is a great way to do this!
- There is a renewed interest in film in Australia?
- The story of Australia is becoming more interesting and diverse - and lends itself to story telling?
- Producers and Directors like  Baz Luhrman have inspired a new generation of hope and endeavour?
It could be one of these things, or a combination of all or a few; but who cares…most importantly, this is a great example of where Australia IS WORKING!
These people who have given us these films now need YOUR support - so get to the movies and support the local talent and stories…who knows it may even inspire you to tell your story!
We look forward to seeing you at the movies!
